Normal and Expanded Envelopes
Samsonite lists its Image Spinner 55 cm (SKU 154688-1041) at 55 × 40 × 20 cm, with expanded dimensions of 55 × 40 × 23 cm. That final dimension increases by exactly three centimetres. Do not assume this extra depth aligns with your closet’s depth axis without checking the intended orientation first. Always measure the case in the exact state it will be stored, rather than relying solely on retail nominal figures.
Comparing Openings and Interiors
When planning an entry cabinet arrangement, distinguish the opening from the width, depth and height available inside. Compare the cupboard doorway against the case orientation separately from the internal envelope. If you are also storing other bulky items nearby, cross-reference their profiles, much as you would review folded pushchair measurements, as a separate comparison.
Recording Your Measurements
Treat the normal and expanded configurations as entirely distinct states in your records. Note each set of dimensions clearly in a dedicated notebook. Avoid planning to store luggage within a circulation route or narrow hall where those additional three centimetres might obstruct daily movement. The three-centimetre difference is a useful reminder to record the case in its intended storage state.
